A soft start into a great adventure
The area around the Grieralm is the ideal playground for our first activities. With the fantastic mountain panorama all around and the crystal-clear lake in front of the inviting alpine hut, this is the perfect way to get started in the Tuxer Valley. Situated on a moderate 1800m, the Griersee is ideal to start with a short hike, to learn the handling of our SWACKS ((combination of swimbuoy and backpack) and to get used to alpine waters.
Let´s go Torseen!
With some initial cable car support through the Eggalmbahn, this circular hike in the Tux Alps takes us over two promising peaks to the Torseen at 2260m. Then we hike over the “Nassen Tux Almen”, interrupted by a waterfall, in the small hamlet of Gemais with its historic building stock. This goes back to a Schwaighof from the 13th century and today still bears impressive evidence of the functionality and beauty of the old farms. Finally, our varied circular walk ends at the valley station of the Eggalmbahn.
How abaout an alpine triathlon ?
Depending on the ambition and condition of the participants, we choose either mountain-bikes or the hiking taxi for the ascent to Vallruckalm. Then we take a relatively steep trail up to the 2350m high located Eiskarsee. After crossing the lake and the descent, we reward ourselves with a heart-warming snack on the Valruckalm and return from there either by mountain-bike or by pedal over the Nassen-Tux-Alm back to the quarter.
A breathtaking experience in every respect: ice swimming in the belly of the glacier
This could easily be a location made for a James Bond film: deep inside the Hintertuxer glacier offers a memorable sight with the natural ice palace. But what makes this location at 3200m so unique to us Wildswimmers is the 80m long glacier lake, which is located there.
To swim here is actually a challenge: Air and water are around zero degrees and the high altitude of over 3200m makes the swim in addition “breathtaking”.
The natural “ice channel” has a length of about 80 meters and reaches at its lowest point to the 30m. For safety reasons, we only swim with a buoy and always under strict safety precautions. From short dip to multiple crossing everything is possible. Without any pressure to perform, but with the full support of the team. For many of our guests, this is in every respect a highlight of their wild-swimming adventures. One from which one lives for a lifetime and for which even this short break would be worthwhile.
